A place to see a few photos and a few words about Sydney art exhibitions when you can't get there yourself. Or when you want to see photos of yourself on the internet.
Last Tuesday night marked the end of an era for the art scene in Enmore. The much loved Hardware Gallery opened its doors for its last ever exhibition. “What I Had I Gave Away” from Thomas C. Chung and Amanda Humphries, seemed a perfect choice for the final show. The title of the exhibition and the sentiment of change and letting go, was timely and strangely ominous.

Familiar names like Shawn Barber, Mike Giant, Alex Binnie, Chris Conn Askew and the beautiful Angelique Houtkamp to name a few. So of course, what better way to celebrate than with a big ol’ exhibition of works from some of the contributing artists.

It’s an abusive relationship, masochistic maybe, but we can’t stop. We especially can’t stop when Friends of Leon has it’s doors open for a showcase of works from 2010 Archibald Prize finalist Carla Fletcher. Her fluorescent, hypnotic works were beckoning.
Posted in Opening (old) | Comments OffA lot of people wander past the City of Sydney RSL without a glance, or perhaps wander in for a cheap beer and a punt. Who’d have thought they’d decided to create a massive gallery space out of their second floor bar?! Not us, certainly. Space@565 is building a name for itself as an affordable place for emerging artist to throw an exhibition in the centre of the city. And they do know how to host an opening: live music, drinks and catering all just to entice the you, the fine people of Sydney, into supporting the space and the artists. When it comes to discovering new galleries in our fine city, the more the merrier!
