From Gallery 9:
Adam Norton’s upcoming solo exhibition at Gallery 9 presents a series of artwork about the weird and wonderful world of science, space and UFOs. Titled Ad Astra which means “to the stars’’, the show looks at the widely diverging views of groups operating in the field of space, from the strictly hard science of the space industry to the exotic beliefs of ufologists. It also taps into the secrecies and paranoia of mankind’s attempts to “reach to the stars’’.
Ad Astra incorporates four bodies of work that Adam Norton describes as “props for the imagination”.
Space Flags: an installation of 27 space agency logos painted onto large sheets of paper which will form a “United Nations of Space Flags” on the gallery wall.
Visionaries: a motley collection of portraits of some of the key figures in space adventure.
Library of Truth and Fiction: found esoteric and science themed books paired with a painted replica.
Signs: often the first point of contact between ordinary civilians and government agencies, signs represent the more paranoid aspects of space adventure.
Norton has recreated some predictable signs like “Prohibited Area” or “Warning Restricted Are” as well as the more esoteric ones like the “Extraterrestrial Highway” which is the alternative name given to the Nevada State Route 375, USA in 1996 because of the large number of UFO sightings in and around that area.

From Somedays:
A few months back, we had a little spare time on our hands. So, we decided to make a magazine – as you do.
What began as a ‘fun side-project’ quickly snowballed into an all-consuming foray into the world of print publishing and has now resulted in 52 neatly presented pages comprising a collection of conversations and creative submissions from prominent designers, artists and musicians.
As always, we like to kick things off with a wee celebration and would love for you to help us toast our latest venture ‘sometimes’…
