From Urban Uprising:

chicks on coke - Ben Frost, limited edition print

For the past five years, Stupidkrap has been cultivating a strong following of art lovers, by providing limited edition prints and artworks by emerging and established urban and outsider artists.

Stupidkrap was co-created by one of Australia’s best known artists, Ben Frost, who has exhibited his work in New York, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Beijing and Singapore, and was recently exposed to a whole new audience through his appearance on Channel Nine’s Australian version of The Apprentice.

Ben Frost will curate Stupidkrap’s first show at Urban Uprising – POP ROCKS! – including prints and artworks by a long list of established and up and coming artists, such as Dan Baldwin (UK), Numskull, Beastman, Bei Badgirl, Eamo, Max Berry, Philjames, Akina, and many more, as well as Ben’s own work.

POP ROCKS promises to be a short sharp shock to the senses, both visually and mentally stimulating, mixing pop surrealism and iconography with cultural confrontation.

As well as the high quality, collectible prints Stupidkrap is known for, POP ROCKS! will include original artworks, and all will be available to buy.

Ben Frost says,” I wanted to put together an exhibition, that was about colour, vibrancy, and dynamism – all with the varying levels of social criticism. These themes are a common thread in a lot of the work of the street and urban artists practicing today. Being involved in Stupidkrap.com, I’ve worked with nearly all of these artists very closely over the years, and we’ve slowly been launching more and more print editions for them, which has helped in many ways push and promote their careers into both the local and international art markets. This exhibition displays that link between original work and printed editions, and it’s a great way for people to start or continue their art collections – inexpensively and in style.”

Rod Lay from Urban Uprising says Stupidkrap and Urban Uprising not only share a love of street and underground art, but also of supporting emerging Australian artists.
