From TAP:
For the forth year Australian Ethical Investment and the TAP Gallery are running the Australian Ethical Art Prize.
The art prize is open to all artists and the entries will be exhibited at the TAP Gallery in Darlinghurst from 1 – 6 June 2010 to coincide with World Environment Day. The winner of the Australian Ethical Art Prize will be announced at an awards night on Saturday 5 June and receive a $1000 investment with Australian Ethical Investment.
A People’s Choice winner will receive a $500 investment with Australian Ethical Investment. Artists are asked to reflect on the Australian Ethical Charter when producing their work. The Charter guides Australian Ethical Investment in its investment decisions and business practices.
CEO of Australian Ethical Investment, Anne O’Donnell said, “the Australian Ethical Art Prize provides a unique opportunity to not only increase awareness of ethical investment but also allows people to think creatively about ethical issues”.
“Artists and creative workers are well represented among our investors and superannuation members, and tend to take a keen interest in ethical investment. We look forward to seeing how they can represent ethical issues in their art work”.
Last year Australian Ethical Art Prize received 40 entries from across Australia. Previous winners of the Art Prize include Isabella Mackay in 2007 with her work Respect your elders and Amanda Seddon in 2008 with her piece Breathe.
